December 07th, 2011: Wednesday Weekly Competition

December 07th, 2011, day of the Wednesday Weekly Competition at Balaia Golf!

On this day we had Michael Sum winning the Best Net Overall prize, and he also got the Nearest to the Pin prize too! Good motives for him to be with a big smile on his face!

Bob Townsend won the 2nd Net Overall prize of this week’s competition, after winning last week’s Best Net prize!

and Dan McNaughton took the birdie chance prize home!

 .

.

It was an excellent afternoon, everybody enjoyed!

November 30th, 2011, Balaia welcomed another Wednesday Weekly Golf Competition!

Balaia owner Bob Townsend was this week’s winner, taking the Best Net Overall prize!

November 23rd, 2011: Balaia 2 holes Competition – between Balaia Golfers and Balaia Employees

On the same day of the Nisse Trophy, Balaia Golf organized a very special competition between the regular golfers and the Balaia staff, in a pairs format!

.

Sr. Roberto Bachmann, owner of the Balaia Golf Village Resort, teamed up with Engº Gad Ron. On this photo we can see an amused crowd at the ClubHouse watching Sr. Bachmann’s golfing skills!

While some of the Balaia staff went out, playing the competition, the rest of the crowd was having fun watching their colleagues trying to do the best they could on the course!

By the end of the tournaments, Balaia Golf Village C.E.O., Engº Rui Justo, presented the award to the Best Nisse winner from the 2 holes competition, and also said a few words, praising the organization of this event!

and so Marcus Cheng was the winner of the Nisse trophy on the Balaia Staff side!

Marcus played with Eileen Farren, and both were crowned as the best team on the 2 holes pairs Competition!

Sr. Roberto Bachmann ended the ceremony with a final speech, stating he was very proud on how Balaia has developed along the years and about the good relation that has been created amongst all the Balaia staff, and owners, guests and friends of Balaia. All in all, this day was a great success!

November 23rd, 2011: The Nisse Trophy – competition prizes presented by Äsae & Jan-Gunnar Furu

On November 23rd, 2011, Balaia Golf Village organized the Nisse Trophy and a special 2 holes competition between the Balaia owners, guests and friends, and the Balaia Golf Village staff!

The winner of the Nisse Trophy 2011 was Duncan Sears! Duncan was awarded with the Norwegian Nisse trophy as a prize, delivered by the Competition Sponsor and Balaia friend Jan-Gunnar Furu!

.

.

Jan Furu and wife Äsae took a photo alongside the Nisse Trophy winner, and with Balaia C.E.O. Engº Rui Justo!

Dan McNaughton scored a Hole-In-One on hole #9 and so he got 2 prizes, the Hole-In-One prize and also the Nearest to the Pin,  from Jan Furu!

.

Moments before scoring a Hole-In-One, Dan was saying to his team players on the course that he wished he had his name on the Hole-In-One board at the Club House, and just right after he nailed it on the 9th!

.

Sean O’Connaire won the Nearest to the Pin prize on hole #1 and also received a beautiful trophy!

.

.

Balaia golf maintenance staff member Marcus Cheng won the Balaia Best Nisse Trophy, as the best player of the special 2 holes Competition!

early in the morning everything was being prepared for the Christmas lunch, while the Nisse Trophy was being played. We brought a whole pork for lunch!

It was lots of fun! Everybody was watching from the ClubHouse the 2 holes Competition, right after the Nisse Trophy, where we had teams of 2 players, joining the Balaia regular players with the Balaia staff people, from the offices, from the gardens, the golf reception, and the Balaia cleaning ladies!

.

All teams went out on the course and played the 1st and the 9th holes, while everybody was having a laugh from the ClubHouse! At this time, the pork was already being served, along with traditional portuguese soup and bread, and red wine!

By the end of the prize presentation, Balaia C.E.O. Engº Rui Justo took the opportunity to thank all the Balaia friends present at the event!

Sr. Roberto Bachmann, Balaia Golf Village resort owner, made a final speech thanking the Furu’s, the Nisse Trophy presenters, and also told the crowd how happy he was with the Event and thanked everybody who participated on it!
